Going for the Changi Intertidal Beach Walk reminded me of my favourite hymn...I wish you could hear me sing it!

This is My Father's World

This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world: He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world. O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world: the battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and heaven be one.

We went with my homeschool friends to Changi beach. Almost immediately after we headed to the beach, someone found a sea creature and there were lots more!

I learnt a few things about handling these sea creatures. One was not to touch them with my hands as some of them could be poisonous and could sting me. We used plastic containers to hold our specimens while we observed them. We were supposed to disturb them as little as possible even with our chopsticks. Uncle Joe and Aunty Ria kept reminding us to “Put them back where we found them!”.

When we got to the beach, I noticed there was a lot of wet sand, seaweed, sea grasses, shells and lots of rubbish. Quite different from the beach at East Coast Park where I rollerblade. I’d rather have a beach without rubbish! It was windy and Mummy liked the smell of the salt water.

Here are some things I saw during the walk.

Hermit Crabs...saw lots. Some were tiny and others big. As the hermit crab gets bigger, it has to keep looking for a new, bigger shell. Another shell hotel.

Sea Cucumber...slimy, spotted with dark brown patches. I think that's it's camouflage to look like a rock

Sea Hare...bright, shiny blue spots on a brown body. Two pointy antennae with hairs sticking out it's head. Hairy sides and pointy tail. It seemed to breathe from a hol that opened and closed on it's back!

This is a video about Mr. Hermit Crab. He was trying to get away from mummy and me.

This is My Father's World

Hi!
I am Jared. I was five when i created this.
I hope you like what you see!

Mussel...the kind daddy likes in his pasta. I tried to get it to open but I think the creature inside was feeling shy.
